Sam Maes, 27th after the first run, set the ninth fastest time in the second and climbed to twentieth place. Armand Marchant was the best Belgian in the first run with a 22nd place, but in the second he made a mistake at the third post and did not finish. It was the second time in history that two Belgian skiers qualified for the second run of a World Cup slalom. Almost exactly a year ago, Marchant and Maes did this in Kitzbühel, also in Austria. Marchant finished 17th there, Maes 27th.
Strasser recorded his fifth World Cup victory, the fourth in a slalom and the second in a week. Last weekend he was already the best in Kitzbühel.
Austrian Manuel Feller, fifth in Schladming, remains the leader in the Slalom World Cup. Strasser is second on 132 points. In the overall World Cup, Swiss Marco Odermatt, who will not start on Wednesday, is comfortably in the lead. Sam Maes collected World Cup points for the sixth time this season and is 68th in the standings with 68 points, Armand Marchant is 111th with 13 points.
