by admin

At the age of 13, he turns from promise into certainty: among the “bigs” in Europe too. On Monday he passed the eighth grade exam, on Sunday that of Abetone

PRASCORSANO

Great performance and title of Italian super enduro mountain bike champion. Lorenzo Mascherini, 13, from Prascorsano, got the title at Abetone at the end of two special stages held with great determination and confidence and ended respectively with a time of 5’37 ” and 4’02 ”. A cut above all.

Delighted with the result, Lorenzo Mascherini himself says: “It was a very beautiful experience from all points of view – explains” Lory “- On Monday, I passed the eighth grade exam at the Giovanni Cena primary school in Cuorgnè, then Thursday left for Abetone, in the province of Pistoia. I competed for the Ancillotti factory team of Valperga and I tried to keep the Canavese colors high by giving my best in every test. The first was much faster, while the second was more technical: the path was narrower and there were roots and stones on the track and in some places it was not so easy to pedal ».

«In my category, that of the Beginners – says Lorenzo Mascherini – I managed to finish first (sum of the two tests) out of fifty competitors, all very strong and coming from all over Italy. While at the absolute level out of one hundred and forty riders, I managed to finish fourth. An extraordinary result also the result of the preparation carried out in the pre-race, with Tommaso Ancillotti who made me grow a lot in all these years. In addition, before the two tests began I did a reconnaissance on foot on the track of the second special test, studying it in detail. I understood all the points in which I had to be more prudent and those in which I could force the test and so on Sunday 4th I knew what I had to do ».

A deserved first place, knowing that all the opponents knew that he was the man to beat.

«I knew I had all eyes on me and there were many who wanted to try to beat me, as is right in any race. I faced the two special stages at Abetone with great strength, knowing full well that I could and had to give my best to every meter of the route – explains Mascherini. Tomorrow, Saturday 10 July is my birthday and a few days in advance, I made myself a nice gift, even if I have to share this goal with both Tommaso Ancillotti and my family, who have always encouraged me day after day to improve myself. I have been cycling since the age of 4, while from the age of 6 I take part in races and they have always been there ».

The father, Massimo, was a pioneer, with Angelo Fuccio, of Enduro and downhill in Canavese and Lorenzo, until last year, due to age limits imposed by the Federation, was unable to take part in the races held in Italy. A little bad. He competed in Europe: France, Germany, Austria. And it has won everywhere. The “little Lory” has grown up. –
