Paris, France – French President Emmanuel Macron disclosed on Monday the contingency plans for the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, including the possibility of limiting the ceremony’s location or moving it to the Stade de France. Macron expressed confidence that the ceremony could still be held in the waters of the Seine despite the looming terrorist threat.

“The ceremony we are planning is a world first. We can do it and we are going to do it… But we have plans B and plans C and we prepare them in parallel,” Macron stated in an interview with BFMTV television.

“We do not minimize the situation, the world is in disorder, we have a war in Europe (in Ukraine), we see what is happening in the Middle East, that there is a terrorist risk. But we are preparing to face it, with transparency,” Macron said.

The French president highlighted the extensive police deployment and assured the public that the event will be the “safest place.” He also mentioned the collaboration with other countries to enhance anti-terrorist surveillance and prevent potential attacks.

Despite concerns about a potential terrorist attack during the Games, Macron expressed his belief that an “Olympic truce” will prevail during the event.
