The coach of the Blue Cross Blue Machine, Martín Anselmi, has renewed his contract with the capital team. This comes after leading the team to 33 points in the regular phase of the championship. Cruz Azul secured a spot in the final phase, the Liguilla, finishing second in the tournament behind Águilas del América. As a result, Anselmi has signed a contract extension until 2027.
Initially hired for four tournaments, Anselmi’s success in Clausura 2024 has earned him a longer stay with the team. He will continue to be supported by his coaching staff, including assistants Facundo Oreja and Esteban Herrera, as well as physical trainer Diego Bottaioli.
Anselmi joined Cruz Azul in December 2023 following a successful stint with Independiente del Valle. His team’s performance in Clausura 2024, with Uriel Antuna scoring 8 goals and 1 assist, saw them secure 17 victories, 4 losses, and 3 draws, with a positive balance overall.
Cruz Azul will face Pumas in the Liguilla, setting up an exciting rematch from a previous encounter. With their strong performance in the regular season, Cruz Azul is confident heading into the playoffs and aiming to reach the semifinals.
