Anthony Edwards as Michael Jordan? One of those directly involved would have spoken about it, according to what Chris Broussard declared.
After the spectacular dunk in the match against the Jazz, many compared Edwards’ power and competitive malice to that of the greats of the past, including ‘His Majesty’ Michael Jordan.
Broussard then decided to ask Jordan his opinion on the comparison with the game of the young Timberwolves star.
“There are two types of comparisons we can make with Michael Jordan. There’s the question of whether Edwards can aspire to or even surpass the level of greatness Michael achieved. This is why LeBron is always compared to Jordan. Not because stylistically they play the same way. As great a player as Anthony Edwards is, I think he can become the best American player, maybe the face of the league, but I don’t think he will ever enter the GOAT conversation. He will never be among the true champions.”
“But style-wise, well, today I reached out to the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan. Jordan said there are similarities in their game. He agreed. If Jordan says there are similarities, that means there are….
“And what I like, besides his athleticism and explosive dunks, is his desire to play, like MJ’s… And his defense? He also plays defense. So these aspects are also similar to Jordan’s. I like the comparison in terms of playing style.”
After the break for the ASG, thanks to the absences of Towns and Gobert, Edwards further raised the level of his game.
In the last 14 games, the winger has averaged 28.1 points, sixth in the League, and his Timberwolves are always among the top three teams in the West.
Michael Jordan confirmed to @Chris_Broussard that there are similarities in Anthony Edwards and MJ’s games. 👀
