Mike De Decker dismisses accusations from Kim Huybrechts: “My mother did not threaten his children”

The Belgian darts world is turned upside down after it became known why Dimitri Van den Bergh and Mike De Decker filed a complaint against Kim Huybrechts. The latter physically attacked De Decker during a tournament in England, because his mother had “threatened” his family. But that accusation is incorrect, according to The Real Deal.

“My mother never threatened Dana or the children,” The Real Deal said in a brief response. “What she did convey in that phone call is that things could go wrong if he was not careful with his behavior. The fact that he now says that he attacked me because his family was threatened is simply not true and unfair.”

In November, Huybechts and De Decker were waiting outside the playing room for their taxis when Huybrechts attacked De Decker. Huybrechts – who had just lost a match – punched De Decker in the face. The latter did not respond, while Huybrechts had to be restrained so as not to attack his fellow darts player again. A video was also made of the aftermath.

“In the case with Mike, my wife had posted online saying she was disappointed that Mike had said things behind my back on tour that had come to my attention. I didn’t talk to him about it at the time, because I just wanted to avoid confrontation. Someone from Mike’s family then called my wife, making a number of threats, including towards my children. As a father you always want to protect your family, especially when you hear things like that. Then something breaks within me,” Huybrechts responded on Tuesday.
