The Carolina Hurricanes and Colorado Avalanche have reached the quarterfinals of the NHL playoffs.
Carolina won 6-3 against the New York Islanders in the North American professional ice hockey league, while Colorado also won 6-3 against the Winnipeg Jets. Both teams won the best-of-seven series 4-1.

Carolina now against the New York Islanders
While Carolina will now face the New York Rangers in the next round, Colorado will face the winner of the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights duel. The series is 2:2.
However, the Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins missed out on an early entry into the quarterfinals. Vancouver lost to the Nashville Predators 1:2, but with a 3:2 lead in the round of 16 series, the Canadians have the next opportunity to book their ticket to the next round on Friday evening (local time).

The Boston Bruins also lost the fifth game against the Toronto Maple Leafs 1:2 after overtime, but can use their next match point in the series (3:2) on Thursday evening (local time).
