Nicolás Larcamón is fired as coach of Cruzeiro in Brazil

Cruzeiro of Brazil announced on Monday the departure of Argentine coach Nicolás Larcamón from the team’s technical direction. The club made the announcement through a brief statement on their social media channels, stating that Larcamón, along with his technical assistants Javier Bergés and Damián Ayude, performance analyst Miguel Ángel Leopardi, and physical trainer Juan Cruz Mónaco, are leaving the club.

The decision to part ways with Larcamón came after a disappointing 1-3 loss at home to Atlético Mineiro in the regional championship. This defeat, following a goalless draw in the Copa Sudamericana, led to the coach’s dismissal despite a successful stint in the Mineiro Championship where Cruzeiro finished on top of Group A with only one defeat in eight games.

Although Larcamón had shown promise at Cruzeiro, the club decided to make a change before the start of the Brasileirao, the top competition in Brazilian soccer. The Argentine coach is now available in the Liga MX, where he has had previous success with Puebla and León.

Cruzeiro thanked Larcamón for his dedication and professionalism during his time at the club and wished him success in his future endeavors. As the team prepares for the upcoming season, they will begin the search for a new coach to lead them in the Brasileirao.
