ROME. Italy coach Roberto Mancini has called up 28 Azzurri for the second phase of the meeting in preparation for the European Championship starting in June. Nothing to do for Alessio Cragno: the Cagliari goalkeeper remains off the list. In addition to the confident Gigio Donnarumma and the Sardinian Salvatore Sirigu, the coach has chosen the Neapolitan Meret as the third goalkeeper.
Compared to those called up for the first phase in Sardinia, which ended with the friendly win 7-0 over San Marino, Mancini has given up, among others, to Kean and Lazzari.
Emerson Palmieri and Jorginho, involved in the Champions League final, won with the Chelsea shirt, will join the group on Tuesday 1 June. By midnight of that day, the coach will formalize the final list of the 26 Azzurri called up for the European Championship.
