Paonessa via dal Colleretto “I’m looking for another project in line with my ideas”

After three years, the paths of sporting director William Paonessa and Colleretto separate. In fact, since last Friday, 1 July, Paonessa is no longer the sports director of the pedanei and leaves the club of president Antonio Vernetto after three years in which the pedanei have always been at the top of the First category championship.

Landed on the planet Colleretto in the 2019/2020 season, in the first year Paonessa built a team that came in second place (at the top was the steam roller Valdruento), with thirteen points on the third in the standings, the Gassinosanraffaele. The following year another second place behind Gassinosanraffaele and finally last year fourth in the league (group C), then playoff, with Colleretto stopped only by the “biscuit” between Psg club of Pino Torinese and Junior Pontestura. «I decided to leave the position of sports director of Colleretto after three years because I felt that the space inside the club was no longer central – says Paonessa – and so I preferred to take a step back and resign. Taking stock of these three years at Colleretto, in the 2019/2020 season we were second in the standings and they suspended the championship, due to Covid-19, with nine days to go, with still the possibility of shortening the Valdruento. Then the following year we only played five games, with three wins and two defeats, before it all ended again due to Covid-19. Finally – continues Paonessa – last season we touched on the Promotion. But now it is already time to look ahead, there have already been some offers, but I will still have to evaluate which project will excite me the most and which will be more serious and functional to my way of seeing football ».

The president of Colleretto Antonio Vernetto does not dwell much on the Paonessa affair: «Now we have to think about the future of Colleretto, in the current state of things as well as Paonessa, the coach Massimo Maggio will not stay with us next season». –
