After Monaco’s 3-2 defeat against Lyon on Sunday evening, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) mathematically won Ligue 1, the French football championship. With three matchdays to go, Monaco, the second team in the standings, is in fact second on 58 points, while PSG is first on 70.

This is the twelfth championship for PSG, the third in a row and the tenth in the last twelve years: its series of victories was interrupted in 2016-2017 by Monaco, and in 2020-2021 by Lille. On May 1st, PSG will play away against Borussia Dortmund in the first round of the semi-finals of the Champions League, the most important club competition in the world, which they have never won so far.
