Pereyra and the return to the River: “The track has cooled down”

The indiscretion of Espn in Argentina: «The“ Tucu ”did not show enthusiasm». He is under contract until 2023 and should have forced Udinese’s hand

UDINE. Suddenly the track cools down on the return of Roberto Maximiliano Pereyra at River Plate, but the chapter of the possible departure of the Argentine who – for technical skills and experience – is the lighthouse of Udinese’s midfield, is not yet closed for next season. In short, two weeks after the first voice bounced from Argentina in Friuli, now we can say that the “Tucu” and the Millonarios are not quite as close as they seemed at first.

The optimism was linked to a visit by the number 37 of Udinese to the Monumental stadium, during a match of the Libertadores Cup between the River and the Alianza in Lima, literally overwhelmed by the five goals of Julian Alvarez, the striker already bought by City, in the final 8-1. In the margin, the photos of Pereyra and another beloved ex, Matias Kranevitter, now in Mexico after the European experiences with Atletico, Sevilla and Zenit. From there the rumors relaunched on social media: Pereyra will return to the River. A belief also repeated by Tnt Sports in recent days and until yesterday, when Nicholas Distasio, Espn reporter explained that «To return to River you have to show desire. It is a “Gallardist” commandment (by Marcelo Gallardo, coach of the Millonarios, ndr). Kranevitter did it and that’s why he’ll be back in no time. Pereyra was perceived as distant and without that enthusiasm, which is why the track has cooled down ».

The reason is simple: the “Tucu” was asked to force Udinese’s hand, but Pereyra has repeatedly confessed that Udine and the Pozzo family are a sort of home, beliefs also confirmed last month, when he explained that he would however the desire to play the cups again, but that it is an ambition that must pass through the approval of the Juventus club.

Of all this, of course, I am also aware of P&P Sport Management, the agency headed by Federico Pastorello which has therefore not made any request to Gino Pozzoeven if it is logical that there is an appointment to be fixed shortly, given that their client is about to expire the contract.

At the market level, however, the priorities at Juventus are other now: the possible sales of Gerrard Deulofeu to Naples, of Rodrigo Becao in Tottenham, Everton or Turin, of Nahuel Molina to Juventus who would like to block the jewel at least for the future Destiny Udogie. Pozzo does not want to sell him, the Turin club is also willing to take him immediately to leave him on loan for two seasons in Friuli. A complicated negotiation, considering that the Italian player could really explode and become a top player at European level.
