Spartak Moscow’s Quincy Promes Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for Drug Trafficking

Dutch international attacker Quincy Promes, who currently plays for Spartak Moscow, has been sentenced to six years in prison by a court in the Netherlands for drug trafficking. The court found him guilty of facilitating the shipment of 1,363 kilos of cocaine from Brazil to the Belgian port of Antwerp and then to the Netherlands in 2020. The extradition demands requested by Dutch justice to Russia were also attended to in this case.

The judges based their decision on intercepted conversations and encrypted messages that Promes sent under the pseudonym ‘Fantasma’. This is not the first time that Promes has been in trouble with the law – in June of last year, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison for “attempted involuntary manslaughter” after stabbing a cousin during a family celebration.
