Real Madrid sues Tebas and CVC for the agreement with La Liga

by admin

Real Madrid announces that it will take legal action to oppose the agreement that provides for the sale of 10% of the shares of LaLiga to the CVC fund, in exchange for 2.7 billion.

The Board of Directors of the company, which met this morning, in fact decided to “unanimously undertake legal actions, both civil and criminal, against the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas Medrano, against Javier de Jaime Guijarro, president of the CVC Fund, and in against the CVC Capital Partners Sicav-Fis Fund itself ». This was reported in a press release from the Madrid club. Furthermore, the board of directors decided “to take any legal action deemed appropriate to cancel and render ineffective any resolutions adopted by the LaLiga assembly to be held on August 12, 2021, regarding the agreement between LaLiga itself and the CVC Fund”.

In recent days, some Spanish newspapers had shown the discontent of Florentino Perez’s company for an agreement that, according to the ‘Los Blancos’, would lead to CVC benefits and earnings – starting from those for advertising contracts – without the consent of Real Madrid nor that of their partners.

Shortly after the announcement by Real Madrid of the lawsuit to cancel the agreement between LaLiga and the CVC Fund, the president of the same Spanish league, Javier Tebas Medrano, intervenes with a tweet. «The threatening method – he writes – that Florentino Perez has been using in private for years is now being transferred to public. Clubs and institutions have been supporting their threats for years. Since 2015 against centralized sales, the constant challenges to agreements, the Super League … @Real Madrid deserves better ».
