The post on the account ‘Ugo Fuoco’ and David Sassoli

Naples 19 January 2022 – He would have defined the death of David Sassoli “very good news”, triggering with that post an avalanche of No vax mud following the death of the president of the European Parliament. The Postal Police of Campania has identified and denounced him: the alleged author of one of the messages damaging the memory of Sassoli is a 40-year-old from the province of Naples, already denounced in the past for non-compliance with the anti Covid measures. Traces of the hate message were found during a computer search carried out by postal agents.

The man turned out to be the administrator of a Telegram channel with more than 30,000 subscribers, where he published numerous messages inciting the violation of the anti Covid provisions.

Social hatred

After Sassoli’s death, hate messages poured out from Telegram, Facebook and Twitter, inspired by “no-vax” conspiracy theories according to which the late president of the European Parliament would have died because of the vaccine. The Postale, coordinated by the Naples North Prosecutor’s Office, investigated following the hashtag #no correlation. And among the various messages that have acquired the character of “virality”, the one published by the account “Ugo Fuoco” has ticked off. The content was shocking: “Every now and then a very good news. He goes away mr. ‘The green pass is not discriminatory’ Sassoli. Now come and get the others, thank you”.

Precisely that message ended up in the crosshairs of the investigators who after a few days of investigations traced back to the forty-year-old Neapolitan.
