Sergio Milani says goodbye to volleyball. “In 15 years, indelible moments”

Sergio Milani

The historic manager of Belluno: “The team has reached very high levels The best memory is the victory in Bassano, the worst is the B2 rights issue”

«Today my engagement in Belluno Volleyball and in the world of volleyball ends».

With these words, yesterday, the historic manager Sergio Milani announced his retirement. President, sports director, then responsible for the competitive and communication sector, over the years he has been one of the pillars of volleyball in the Belluno capital (as well as, for a short time, at the Eagles Mestrino).

«There comes a time in your life when you look back: in two weeks I turn sixty and in the last fifteen I have devoted a lot of time to volleyball. Now I would like to dedicate more space to myself, my family and my passions. I would also like to clear the field of doubts: the lack of promotion of the men’s team, or Sunday’s defeat of the women’s team, have nothing to do with it. Even less so if, as it seems, the will is to register in A3 anyway. Mine is a decision that I have matured in recent weeks. I have received hundreds of messages: this makes me think that I have done something good ».

What Volleyball Belluno leaves Sergio Milani?

«I’m leaving a team that has reached very high levels, bringing back an interest in this sport that hasn’t been seen for years. Surely when the halls reopen entirely to the public we will see them filled with fans. If I can afford to give some advice, I suggest paying equal attention also to the youth sector, which perhaps in recent years has sometimes been a bit neglected. But I am sure that this attention will not be lacking ».

Farewell day, time to take stock …

“Surely the good things are much more than the bad ones. The only negative aspect concerns the affair of the sale of the rights for B2 a few years ago. But I removed it, it was just a sad story, which moreover had nothing to do with sport ».

Regrets?

“In recent years, many other things could be done. But unfortunately what you see on the outside is a third of what is done. For my part, I have always had the good fortune to collaborate with very helpful people with whom I have formed wonderful relationships ».

The best memory?

«The last few years have been the best, with two promotions in the last four leagues. The most beautiful of all? The final in Bassano with promotion from C to B. That is a memory that will remain forever engraved in me. It was the beginning of something important in B and the end of an equally important journey, in C, with a team of guys who all came out of our nursery ».

Sergio Milani after volleyball will dedicate himself …

«… To cycling! I will go to see the volleyball matches, I think so, and obviously I will remain a fan of Belluno. But in recent years I have discovered a passion, I would dare to say unbridled, for the bike, which I would like to cultivate, together with that for the camper ». –
