SKY SNOW SCHIA MONTE CAIO 2024

Last day of waiting to know the names of the winter champions in the SkySnow specialty: on Saturday, after the intense and spectacular stages of Sauze d’Oulx and Gressoney, the SkySnow Schia Monte Caio will put an end to the games for winning the Italian Cup in specialty and will close a hard-fought edition of the CRAZY SkySnow Italy Cup circuit, the winter event dedicated to snow running promoted by FISky – Italian Skyrunning Federation and now in its 4th edition.

From inaugural race to decisive race: for the first year the SkySnow Schia Monte Caio, organized by Skyrunning Adventure ASD and Montecaio Srl, will be the last opportunity for athletes to earn precious points and consolidate their positions in the final rankings. On the heights of the Parma Apennines, a great battle is expected between the best snow racing specialists, ready to challenge each other on the fast 10.8 km track with 800 m of positive difference in altitude along the slopes of Monte Caio, which will reward those who know how to best interpret a fast race and muscular to run in one breath. There are two routes proposed by the organization: in addition to the long one that will decide the championship challenge, it will also be possible to run over a distance of 6.2 km (390 m difference in altitude).

Several athletes representing the national skyrunning team were expected at the start and sure protagonists of the challenge, above all the provisional leaders of the circuit Gianluca Ghiano (Santiano Dante ASD) and Corinna Ghirardi (Skyrunning Adventure ASD): the very strong Piedmontese skyrunner, after the victory in the stage inaugural event of the circuit will look for a flourishing conclusion, while the multiple Italian champion – and new Italian SkySnow champion – will try to keep her national teammates Benedetta Broggi (ASD Sport Project VCO), Giulia Pol (GS Orecchiella Garfagnana ASD), Chiara Giovando (Pegarun) at a distance ASD) and Roberta Jacquin (Pegarun ASD). In the men’s field, the spotlight is also on specialists Matteo Lora (Skyrunning Adventure ASD) and Fabio Martinat (Piossasco Trail Runners ASD).

For the national athletes, in addition to the day’s ambitions, there will be extra motivation at the finish line: the Schia race will close the selection of those who will have the chance to represent Italy at the next SkySnow World Championships in Tarvisio (8-9 March).

We would also like to remind you that the organization will be giving away €700, equally divided between men’s and women’s placings, and that at the end of the race the final awards ceremony for the CRAZY SkySnow Italy Cup circuit will take place which will see the awarding of the prize money of €3,000, 00 made available by the Federation.

Many runners have already registered who did not want to miss the opportunity to run in the splendid setting of the Apennines together with the elite athletes: registrations still open until February 13th.
