Lorenzo Carboni, the very young tennis player from Alghero, entered the history of Italian tennis by winning the Italian under 16 title starting as seeded No. 12 and beating Andrea Meduri, third seeded in the final. An event that has never happened before in Italy, a victory that surprised everyone a bit, but Lorenzo Carboni, beyond the technique, has the right character to be able to emerge internationally. For two years he has lived in Bordighera where there is a famous tennis center, the Piatti Tennis Center, and is registered with the Tc Italia of Forte dei Marmi. At the age of 15, which turned out to be last February, he proves to have what it takes to be a champion. And sport Lorenzo has it in his DNA thanks to his father Sebastiano and his mother Maria Francesca.

“There is a lot of my parents. From them I learned to love sport. My father played at good levels in amateur football and as a young man he was one step away from Inter, but, as far as I know, my grandfather forbade him. He has studied and for several years is head of ENT at the civil hospital of Alghero. Instead my mother, Maria Francesca Arcasedda, played basketball for many years, and at a good level ».

«I state that I love all sports, but tennis, in particular, I have always loved since I was a child. Suffice it to say that there were periods, as a child, that I practiced both minibasket and tennis at the same time, then football school and tennis again. In short, I never gave up tennis ».

«I followed the advice given by my teacher Giancarlo Di Meo that I had at the Tennis Club Alghero».

Do you live alone in Bordighera?

“Every two weeks my parents take turns with my maternal grandparents.”

His tennis idol?

«It has always been Novak Djokovic whom I had the pleasure of seeing playing in training in Bordighera in my own center. What a thrill I felt that day ».

Italian tennis players?

“There are several who are champions. Berrettini, Sinner, Sonego and Musetti just to name a few ».

On the other hand, when you are not playing tennis, do you follow other sports?

«Football and basketball are my other sporting passions. In football I support Juventus, while as regards basketball I love the Americans of the Golden State Warriors ».

What do you do in your free time?

«The little free time I have, I dedicate to the friends I go to meet on my bicycle. Otherwise I enjoy playing some video games on the playstation or on the computer ».
