Genoa, 16 October 2021 – Tragedy in the Ligurian sea a few hundred meters from the port of Sestri Levante where a sub was run over and killed from a boat. The man had immersed himself breathless to fish and was hit by a passing boat. The violent collision left no way out for the diver whose body was later recovered by the Coast Guard of Santa Margherita Ligure and was taken to the Sestrese port quay.
He was called Angelo Marzullo and he was 70 years old. The man, well known in Genoa and in the Tigullio ed expert freediver, after anchoring his own boat and immersed himself on a depth of over 20 meters. According to the first rumors, when the man re-emerged he was overwhelmed by a boat in transit. The Coast Guard of Sestri Levante is committed to a reconstruction on this point. Marzullo’s body was transferred to the dock as well as the two boats, which are under seizure.
