Zhou Guanyu Anticipates Home Race in Upcoming F1 Season

As the World Formula One Racing Championship (F1) Chinese Grand Prix approaches, Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu is eagerly anticipating his first home race in the new season. The event, which will take place at the Shanghai International Circuit from April 19 to 21, 2024, marks the 20th anniversary of the F1 Chinese Grand Prix.

In a recent interview with Xinhua News Agency, Zhou Guanyu expressed his determination to turn his past regrets and mistakes into motivation for the upcoming season. “In the new season, I hope to show my best form and look forward to earning points in the race. There will be greater breakthroughs,” he stated.

Reflecting on the challenges of the past two years, Zhou Guanyu acknowledged the pressure he faced, but also expressed gratitude towards his past self, saying, “Thank you. The past two years were not easy, but you survived.”

The 2023 season marked Zhou Guanyu’s second year in the F1 career, during which he demonstrated significant progress. He secured 6 points and ranked 18th in the driver standings. Notably, he achieved ninth place finishes in the Australian Grand Prix, Spanish Grand Prix, and Qatar Grand Prix, as well as a fifth place qualifying finish in the Hungarian Grand Prix, setting a new career-best record.

Commenting on his growth and development within the team, Zhou Guanyu emphasized his increased confidence in making decisions and actively participating in the team’s research and development efforts. He also hinted at the team’s preparations for the upcoming season, stating that a brand new frame with significant upgrades will be launched.

While Zhou Guanyu admitted to feeling a bit unfamiliar with the upcoming track, he expressed his dedication to preparing for the race on the simulator. Additionally, he shared his passion for designing special painted helmets for each grand prix, indicating that he had already designed a special version for the Chinese Grand Prix in December 2023.

With the anticipation building for the upcoming F1 Chinese Grand Prix, fans are eagerly looking forward to witnessing Zhou Guanyu’s performance as he takes on his first home race of the new season.
