During the meeting, the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee presented to the plenary meeting the latest progress of the preparation work, expressing that it will contribute to the world a simple, safe and exciting Olympic event. International Olympic Committee President Bach said that the preparations for the Beijing Winter Olympics are “very satisfactory”, with smooth progress in various aspects such as venue construction, Olympic heritage and public participation. He expects that China can host a safe and successful Winter Olympics in a few months. “The Beijing Winter Olympics will drive 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports, which will be a milestone in the development of global winter sports.”
On the afternoon of the 20th, the 138th Plenary Session of the International Olympic Committee passed an amendment to the “Olympic Charter”. “Together” was officially written into the Olympic motto. Since then, the Olympic motto that has been circulating for more than a hundred years has officially changed. For “faster, higher, stronger-more united.”
At the 137th plenary meeting of the International Olympic Committee held online in March this year, Bach suggested adding “more unity” to the Olympic motto. More than 4 months later, the amendment to the Olympic motto was officially passed. “It is always our goal to use sports to make the world a better place, and unity provides the impetus for us to achieve this goal.” Bach said, “Only we can be together and unite as one. , We can become faster, higher and stronger.”
On the afternoon of the 21st, the 138th Plenary Session of the International Olympic Committee voted for the host city of the 2032 Summer Olympics. As the only candidate city, Brisbane, Australia received 72 votes in favor and 5 votes out of 77 valid votes. Objected, and finally successfully won the right to host the 2032 Summer Olympics.
In June of this year, after passing the assessment of the future host committee, the IOC Executive Committee further proposed that Brisbane host the 2032 Summer Olympics. This proposal was finally passed at this plenary meeting. In 2019, the International Olympic Committee will reform the bidding mechanism for the Olympic Games and set up two future host committees for the Summer and Winter Olympics.
In addition, the 138th Plenary Session of the International Olympic Committee also unanimously adopted the ski mountaineering project as a competition event for the 2026 Winter Olympics. The event will produce 5 gold medals, and a total of 48 athletes will participate in the competition.
