The Tigers del Feltre at the National Under 18 meeting

Busana, Campigotto, Celli, Dal Farra, Fent, Possamai, Secco and Palladino are at the Rovato rally. Coach Carlo Turrin: “They know that this call-up is only a first step”

The eight girls of Rugby Feltre continue to dream, but with their eyes wide open and their feet planted on the ground, called up for the Rovato meeting of under 18 athletes.

This is an appointment announced by the Fir, in the context of the area project that aims to build an under 20 national team, which can compete in the Six Nations category.

Martina Busana, Erika Campigotto, Francesca Celli, Rebecca Dal Farra, Silvia Fent, Beatrice Possamai and Laura Secco were born and raised wearing garnet colors, or the Tigers tiger jersey, as they like to call themselves, while Sofia Palladino comes from South Tyrol and he has been playing for at least a couple of years with Feltre.

A first call for the rally weekend had come in November and now a second one has arrived, which confirms the constancy of these girls, their commitment, the true and pure passion for the oval ball. Needless to say, the “teacher” Gabriele Gabrielli is at the origin of this path, as explained by Carlo Turrin, the coach who has been following this group of girls for years, together with Federico Norelli and Asja Fent, with specific advice. by Alessandro Gerardi.

«The credit goes to Maestro Gabrielli, because it was he, with the activity in the schools, who built the core of our under-19s, which come from the propaganda activity he carried out at the Pedavena middle school. The girls started participating in student tournaments, then, they welcomed some other friends and we got to the current team. At the meeting of the national under 18 selection we have seven girls from Feltre, plus Sofia Palladino, who comes from South Tyrol, but has been playing with us for at least two years ».

What is striking about these athletes is the seriousness with which they face the commitment, the fun they know how to get from it and the constancy with which they attend the field and the gym.

«We do two workouts a week, plus two sessions in the gym, followed by Andrea Sartor. They are very passionate », confirms Carlo Turrin« committed and involved, so much so that we have a percentage of attendance that is close to 100% at training. Since the numbers are limited and even an injury or two can put the team in crisis, I was initially clear with them, or you train seriously, or it is better to choose other paths. The girls have understood this and with the activity in the gym they have almost eliminated the injuries, touching iron ».

The results captured in the league by the under 19s of Rugby Feltre confirm their quality and competitiveness, in a complicated context, as explained by Carlo Turrin.

«The results we are gathering in the matches with Valsugana and Villorba tell us that we are at the top of the best expression of the under-19 Veneto rugby category and, consequently, also the national one, a circumstance confirmed by the victories with Colorno and Montegranaro. Unfortunately, there is a problem of quantity, because compared to ten years ago, there are now few teams under 19 in Italy, however, we cannot blame ourselves for this ».

The Tigers, from their sideor, they continue to attend the camp and keep busy, with their feet firmly planted on the ground.

“They know that the call is a parenthesis and they are aware that to stay there they must commit themselves, however, I must also admit that they turned out to be more mature than I expected”.

Andrea Casagrande, on the other hand, is in charge of the women’s movement in Rugby Feltre, a sector that the Granata club wants to expand.

«From February the recruitment activity will begin and taking advantage of this space, I invite the parents of the girls concerned, or them directly, to write to [email protected], or to contact me by phone at 329.3542334. We have started a project with Valdobbiadene, Montebelluna and Piave that aims to give visibility to the world of women’s rugby, on the basis of the interest shown by Fir, after Italdonne’s successes in the women’s Six Nations. It was decided to focus primarily on the territorial movement, which at the moment is fragmented and in need of greater cohesion. We cater to girls aged 13 and over and we are working to broaden the potential of the project ».
