Chinese Team Wins Big at Indian Badminton Open
The Chinese badminton team achieved great success at the Indian Badminton Open, which concluded in New Delhi on the 21st. The team reached the finals of four events and ultimately took home one gold and three silvers.
In the men’s singles final, Chinese team player Shi Yuqi faced off against Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk-yiu. After a hard-fought match, Shi Yuqi emerged victorious with a total score of 2:0, securing the first international men’s singles championship for the Chinese badminton team this season.
Despite the win in the men’s singles, the Chinese team narrowly missed out on securing victories in the other events. Chen Yufei claimed the silver medal in the women’s singles, while Zhang Shuxian and Zheng Yu took the runner-up spot in the women’s doubles. Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin also won silver in the mixed doubles event.
Following their success in India, the Chinese team quickly turned their attention to the upcoming Indonesia Masters in Jakarta, which is set to begin on January 23.
