The final of the Africa Cup of Nations, the football tournament between African national teams, will be Nigeria-Ivory Coast. Nigeria beat South Africa on penalties in the semi-final, after the two teams had drawn 1-1 in regulation and extra time. Both goals in the match came from penalties: the first was scored in the 67th minute by the central defender and captain of Nigeria, William Troost-Ekong, while midfielder Teboho Mokoena equalized for South Africa in the 90th minute.
Ivory Coast instead beat the Democratic Republic of Congo 1-0 in the semi-final, with a goal in the 68th minute by striker Sébastien Haller. Ivory Coast is also the country where the tournament is taking place, and together with Nigeria was one of the national teams considered favorites from the beginning.
