The Olympic Qualification Series is about to begin in Shanghai, with the event set to kick off at the Huangpu Binjiang Puxi Expo Park from May 16th to 19th. Yesterday, the Olympic Qualifying Series Shanghai Organizing Committee meeting took place at the city hall, with Shanghai Vice Mayor Jie Dong in attendance.

This series, a key part of the “Olympic 2020+5 Agenda,” is a new festival series established by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that combines sports events with urban culture. It includes competitions in break dancing, rock climbing, skateboarding, and freestyle BMX. The series consists of two stops around the world, each lasting four days, and will also feature an urban sports festival integrating sports, art, music, and culture to immerse the audience in the Olympic atmosphere.

The Olympic Qualification Series Shanghai Organizing Committee has efficiently promoted venue design and construction, competition organization, reception services, publicity and promotion, media operation and broadcast, security, medical care, and more since its establishment in October last year. The three competition venues have been completed to the standards of the IOC and International Sports Federation, with the skateboard venue set to be finished today.

The City Sports Festival, a highlight of the event, will feature activities in two stages. The warm-up period from April 16 to May 15 will focus on promotion activities for the competition projects, while the main event will take place along the Huangpu Riverside during the competition days. Zhang Xin, Director of the Competitive Sports Department of the State Sports General Administration, praised the preparations of the Shanghai Organizing Committee, stating that they have been highly praised by the IOC and relevant international sports federations.

With the excitement building for the start of the Olympic Qualification Series in Shanghai, athletes and fans alike are eagerly awaiting the chance to witness top-tier competition and experience the unique blend of sports and culture that this event has to offer.
