Matteotti’s boys find the Ligurians of Lavagna, second in the first phase La Volpianese makes its debut in Bra, returning to inverted fields over the weekend

We return to the field this evening, Wednesday 12 May, to play the first leg of the quarter-finals (the first four classified of all the national groups on the field) of the men’s and B2 women’s Serie B championship. Both the Alto Canavese and the Volpianese will meet very difficult opponents on their way.
In the male field, theAlto Canavese, third in the mini group A1, hosts the Genoese of Lavagna at 9 pm at PalaCuorgnè, who finished second in group A2 with 19 points, 2 less than the altocanavesani. In the women’s field, on the other hand, the Volpianese, first in group A2 with 22 points, at 21 takes on the Bra, the fourth team classified instead in the mini group A1 with 15 points. Both Alto Canavese and Volpianese they want to start this second phase on the right foot.
The regulation provides for the golden set, as happens in the volleyball Champions League, in case of equal points in the double confrontation, as explained by coach Stefano Andreotti of Volpianese: “In this phase, the sets won do not count, but the points collected between the first and return: if, for example, we win this match 3-0 and we lose 1-3 in the retour match on Saturday, we should then play a further partial, up to 15 points, the golden set, to determine who between us and Bra will detach the pass for the semifinals. We want to go on as much as possible – explains Andreotti – the Bra is a team that must be attacked, they have three bands with very different characteristics and it will not be easy to deal with them ».
To be sure of the passage, in short, you need to score at least four points between the return legs: a 3-0 and 3-1 success and a 3-2 defeat.
Still in the women’s field, these are the other matches of the two groups A1 and A2: after the advance of last Saturday, May 8, between Labormet Torino and Serteco Genova, with the victory of the Ligurians 3-2, today at 17 Chieri- Normac Genova and at the same time at the Volpianese at 9 pm also Carcare (Savona) -Caselle.
In the men’s field, however, the Alto Canavese will face Lavagna tonight, with coach Fabio Matteotti who is ready for the challenge: “Playing the first away game is always an advantage, because then you can play the eventual golden set at home. . However, we play the first at home and we will have to concentrate only on winning the three points – says Matteotti -. On the return match, which will be played on Sunday 16 May at 5.30 pm in Liguria, we will think from tomorrow. We have seen some videos of the Lavagna and it is a team that suffers a little in reception, while it is good at serving and has a strong opposite. We will have to play with maximum concentration ». These are the other matches of groups A1 and A2: today at 21 Acqui Terme-Npsg La Spezia, Colombo Genova-Savigliano and Zephir La Spezia-Ciriè. –
