CALUSO. The Canavese sportsmen who are following the Tokyo Olympic Games, which began on Friday 23 July and will end on Sunday 8 August, will have one more reason to stay glued to the TV tuned to the Eurosport channel, tonight at 2 am and tomorrow morning, Thursday 5 August at 9.30. In fact, Ivan Federico, 22 years old from Aré, a hamlet of Caluso, will compete. His discipline is skateboarding. He will take to the track at the Ariake Urban Sports Park in Tokyo at 9 am in Japan, 2 am in Italy and Federico Tontodonati, 31 years old from Vische, walker who at the Sapporo Odori Park at 9.30 am Italian time (instead it will be 16.30 in Japan) will cover the 20 km of the running race.

A double test that could help both to further increase the medal table of the Italian expedition and to keep the Canavese flag high in the land of the Rising Sun.

Both Federico and Tontodonati have prepared themselves in the best way for this world event and are ready to amaze, knowing full well that the mental aspect before and during the race will be very important, where determination and above all a lot of concentration will be needed.

Federico got ready for Tokyo by taking part in a race in Iowa, United States last May and in his heart the goal is to repeat the excellent result achieved in 2019, when he won gold, becoming world champion at the XGames in Minneapolis, also in the States in 2019. However, it will not be easy to repeat that extraordinary goal because in Tokyo he will have to fight with very strong opponents, such as Americans, Brazilians, Swedes, French, Spanish and Japanese hosts.

Tontodonati instead, the pre-Olympic course took place in Predazzo, Val di Fiemme, in Sesto San Giovanni in the province of Trento and at the Monza Air Force sports center. The aim of the walker from Visco is to try to add to the already rich palmares, made up of thirteen titles achieved both nationally and internationally. The Canavese will make the two Italian Olympians feel all their support for this very important event in which further pages of local sporting history could be written. Upon returning from the Rising Sun they will be greeted with joy regardless of the result achieved because it is already a success to have two local athletes at a planetary event such as the Olympic Games.
