Udinese, season tickets do not take off AUC appeal: “Let’s fill Friuli”

Yesterday the confirmation of the place for old subscribers expired: just over 5 thousand cards would have been signed

The reasons can be many, the substance remains. The Udinese season ticket campaign does not take off and it is no coincidence that yesterday the Udinese Club Association turned to our newspaper to launch an appeal to the fans to subscribe. “The moment is what it is – says the president Giuseppe Marcon -, we have not yet emerged from the pandemic and the latest results of the team have not captured the fan, but the squad is competitive and we are convinced that at the end of the season we will be in a position far better ranking. That’s why we invite the fans to sign up for a season ticket ».

The first phase, the one dedicated to the renewals of old subscribers, ended yesterday. The company did not disclose the data with which it closed. In the evening it was rumored of a figure of just over 5 thousand units. Few? If we take as a reference the data of the last season ticket campaign before the arrival of Covid (13,800), definitely yes. However, if we take into account what has happened in the last two years, it is not surprising: «The fans – explains Marcon – are habitual and in the last year and a half they have seen the games at home. It becomes difficult to take them off the sofa. And those who do not stay at home went to the bar where they may have made new friends that encourage them not to change ».

And then there is still the fear of Covid. A little in all the stadiums, with the opening widened to 75%, it is not that social distancing or the use of masks are respected. «People – confirms Marcon – are still afraid. And taking into account that among our affiliates there are many elderly people, the return to the stadium is not seen with great enthusiasm. Then when you come to know that the contagion index rises in the places where there have been gatherings, one thinks not once but twice about returning to the stadium ».

Speaking of enthusiasm, the team’s results also end up slowing down the season ticket race. “It would have taken a couple of victories to coincide with the opening of the season ticket campaign – confirms the president of AUC -, but as I said at the beginning, the team is good, young people of value arrived and I believe that from here to the end we we will take away some nice satisfactions ».

Udinese, aware of all these problems, proposed very affordable prices and was also attentive to some “bands”: there are particularly convenient packages of 50 euros for ten games (excluding Milan and Inter) for students, for members of sports clubs and also rates dedicated to families.

Today and only at the Udinese Point of the Curva Nord, it will be possible for old subscribers to choose a different new seat from those left free or released during the first two pre-emption phases. From 9 to 14 November, then, the campaign will be completed by opening the free sale of seats still available at the end of the pre-emption phases. Marcon concludes: «Never thought of being able to repeat recent numbers, we would be more than satisfied if we managed to reach 8,000». For the record, it is the lowest share of subscribers recorded in 35 years of the Pozzo era, but which would have a decidedly different weight from that of many years ago. –
