Ukraine, Putin: “Russia’s non-negotiable interests” – Foreign

Moscow, February 23, 2022 – The interests and safety of Russia “are not negotiable”. This morning the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, was very clear in what now appears to be an inevitable conflict. “Our country is always ready for direct and honest dialogue, in search of diplomatic solutions to the most complex problems”, said Putin, adding however that “Russia’s interests, the security of our citizens, are not negotiable for us” .

The Russian president threatens Ukraine and states: “The Minsk agreements no longer exist”. Russia, he says, wants the “demilitarization” of Ukraine which could have “tactical nuclear weapons” and for this reason does not exclude the entry of Russian troops into the country.

According to the US president Biden, Moscow may decide to launch attacks on various Ukrainian cities, “including the capital Kiev”. For NATO, which expects a large-scale attack, “this is the most dangerous moment for European security for generations”. For this reason, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announces, we have “about 100 planes and 120 ships on high alert after the countries of the alliance have sent thousands of soldiers to the countries of eastern Europe”.

The Pentagon has ordered it displacement of 800 American soldiers, part of an infantry battalion task force, already stationed in Italy and of 20 AH-64 helicopters to the Baltic countries. The United States will also send eight F-35s from Germany to NATO’s eastern flank and 12 Apache helicopters from Greece to Poland.
