Volleyball. Belluno pressing on Viel to lead the team in C

Pavei’s former deputy would have the task of rebuilding the team that came down from B2. He will collaborate with Spes for the nursery, but the two companies will remain divided

New synergies in the capital for women’s volleyball in Belluno. Volleyball Belluno and Spes have started a dialogue to strengthen their respective “pink” sectors through a series of collaborations that will primarily concern the youth sectors.

The first two teams – as well as the two clubs – will remain distinct: Volleyball Belluno will play in Serie C, Spes in Serie D. Belluno is working to set up its women’s C team. After relegation from B2 and the farewell of coach Dario Pavei, the Belluno management immediately turned to Paolo Viel, Pavei’s trusted second for years.

The choice is not yet official, but the company led by Claudio Casanova has been working for several weeks to give a future to the team, which a year ago touched the promotion to B1 and which this spring had to say goodbye to the national series.

After the departures already made official by the management of the three non-Belluno players Francesca Fioretti, Sharon Cristante and Cristina Giacomini (and waiting to clarify where the two athletes who arrived a year ago from Sedico will play: the central Elena Zago and the opposite Letizia Buzzatti), the Belluno roster will inevitably have to be rebuilt.

At the corporate level, a first step should be placed towards the end of the month, with the assembly called to elect the new president of Volleyball Belluno. The position, a year ago, was taken on by Casanova himself, former sports director of the women’s team, flanked by Valentina Sovilla in the role of vice president. Spes Belluno, for its part, after the exciting salvation achieved on the last day in the women’s Serie D championship, intends to continue in the sign of continuity, enhancing its athletes who this year appeared on the regional stage bringing home the seasonal goal despite the many difficulties encountered.

Also due to the results obtained and the work done, there seems to be no doubt about the confirmation of coach Diego Pezzei on the Belluno bench. And if the first two volleyball teams Belluno and Spes Belluno remain distinct, at the youth level we are working instead to create something very interesting for the panorama of the capital.

The goal of this dialogue between Spes and Volleyball Belluno is to “create a prominent women’s polo”, as sporting director Claudio Casanova had explained in recent weeks. The collaborations, at least in this phase, will mainly concern the youth teams, probably from the Under 16 onwards. In the project it is not excluded that the third reality of the capital, Volleyball Castion, may also be involved, which in this way would become part of a single city volleyball center for women. For now, the dialogue between the companies involved is only at the beginning, but the path towards a sharing of energies and objectives seems to have been traced by now.
