Volleyball Gropello Cairoli returns to the territorial level by winning the provincial Second Division championship and hitting the expected return to the First Division. “For us this is currently the maximum objective that we had planned and that we have achieved well in advance of forecasts,” says the president Paolo Tiberti, a historic volleyball manager from Pavia and the soul of Gropello Cairoli’s volleyball team. “The past seasons, with the championships and the squads decimated by Covid, have imposed considerable sacrifices and acrobatics on the sports clubs and also in Gropello Cairoli we really felt the difficulties, with the youth recruitment effectively blocked – continues Tiberti who, then , adds -. The work on the first team, undertaken by coach Donatella Forti now four seasons ago, has given the hoped-for results. The season was fantastic, with seventeen wins in eighteen games. We should not forget the work of the technicians Beppe Gatti and Gigi Sturini, both on the militant formation in the Under 18 Third Division, which just missed the playoffs to move up to the Second Division, deservedly conquered by Bereguardo who preceded us in the standings, and on the Under 13 group both men and women from which the lifeblood will come for the years to come ». The goals achieved are at the same time a gratification for the club and the president Tiberti, but also a stimulus to better face future commitments: “Being able to celebrate in the same year a promotion and growth at the level of practitioners is a very strong push to face the next few years, aiming to work with a certain tranquility.
