Zhejiang Men’s Basketball Team Advances to CBA Semi-Finals with Win Over Shanghai
The Zhejiang Men’s Basketball Team made history by breaking a four-year curse and advancing to the semi-finals of the 2023-24 season CBA playoffs with a dominant 111-82 victory over the Shanghai Men’s Basketball Team.
In a hard-fought fifth game of the series, Zhejiang outplayed and outlasted Shanghai to secure their spot in the next round. Despite a valiant effort from Shanghai’s Wang Zhelin, who battled through fatigue to contribute 7 points and 7 rebounds, it was Bacon of Zhejiang who stole the show with an impressive 31-point performance.
The game was the only series in the second round of the playoffs to go the full five games, with Liaoning, Guangdong, and Xinjiang all advancing with 3-0 or 3-1 victories in their respective matchups.
Shanghai’s head coach Liu Peng emphasized the importance of attention to detail and maintaining composure in such high-pressure situations, but his team ultimately fell short against a determined Zhejiang squad.
Despite a strong showing from Bacon and a late push in the fourth quarter, Shanghai was unable to overcome Zhejiang’s relentless offensive attack, led by Gailey and Yu Jiahao. The game ended with Zhejiang securing a commanding 29-point victory and punching their ticket to the semi-finals.
With the completion of this game, all the top four teams in the playoffs have been determined. The Liaoning Men’s Basketball Team will face off against the Guangdong Men’s Basketball Team in one semi-final, while the Xinjiang Men’s Basketball Team will take on the Zhejiang Men’s Basketball Team in the other.
