London, 3 July 2021 – Matteo Berrettini e Lorenzo Sonego fly to round of 16 of Wimbledon, third round of the Grand Slam of the season underway on London’s turf fields.
The Roman tennis player, number 7 on the scoreboard, has beaten the Slovenian Aljaz Bedene with a peremptory 6-4 6-4 6-4. For Berrettini it was enough to always keep the serve and ‘brekkare’ the opponent only once per set to bring home the result. The 25-year-old never lost focus, and was very smooth with the first serve as his main weapon along with the forehand. On Monday he will face Belarusian Ivashka, who ruled Australia’s Jordan Thompson with a 6-4 periodical.
Clear victory also for Sonego (n. 27), who won in three sets, with a score of 6-3 6-4 6-4, the Australian James Duckworth, number 91 of the international ranking. The Piedmontese tennis player in the round of 16 will meet the winner of the match between Roger Federer and the British Norrie.
