Years of challenges and now the public is back

The Covid emergency will not yet allow us to see the extraordinary spectacle of fans and enthusiasts that characterized the first two derbies of A2 between the Cda and Itas, in the 2019-2020 season, almost a lifetime ago, with three thousand spectators crowded in the stands of the Carnera di Udine . In that championship it was Itas who won both games, the first three to zero, the second at the tie-break. At the end of the first phase, the girls of coach Gazzotti qualified for the play-offs, of which they played a handful of games, before the lockdown blocked all the championships. On the other hand, last season’s derbies were inevitably subdued, with no audience and few managers. Double victory for Martignacco also on that occasion: three to zero in the first leg derby at home, three to one at Talmassons in the second leg, played in mid-January instead of, as scheduled, on 26 December. Reversing the trend was the first leg match, on 17 October, again in Cividale, won three to one by the girls of coach Barbieri in front of a stadium that was certainly not crowded given the limitations but still colored by about 800 fans. On Boxing Day the building could fill up even more.
