Zhu Xueying and Wang Zisai Clinch Victory at National Trampoline Championship
The fourth station of the 2024 National Trampoline Championship and Paris Olympic Trials took place in Qian’an, Hebei Province, showcasing the talents of 21 male and female athletes from 8 different teams. Among them were renowned athletes such as Tokyo Olympic trampoline champion Zhu Xueying and world champion Yan Langyu.
In the women’s individual finals, Tianjin team’s Zhu Xueying triumphed with a score of 56.89 points, followed by Hu Yicheng and Zhang Xinxin from the Shanxi team in second and third place. On the men’s side, Wang Zisai of Jiangsu team claimed the gold with 61.60 points, with Yan Langyu and Li Yuming taking second and third place.
Reflecting on her victory, Zhu Xueying remarked on the tight schedule of the competition, stating, “It is a challenge for my physical ability with only two hours between the preliminaries and finals. With more than 70 days until the Paris Olympics, I aim to enhance my routine and achieve success at the games.”
Yuan Shoulong, deputy director of the Gymnastics Management Center of the State Sports General Administration, highlighted the rigorous selection process for Olympic athletes. The center aims to identify competitors with the highest potential for securing gold medals through intense trials and competitions.
“The final selection of Olympic athletes will be based on the results of the trampoline Olympic trials, utilizing a ‘choose three from five’ method to determine the top performers. These athletes will then be nominated to represent their country at the Paris Olympics,” explained Yuan Shoulong.
With the National Trampoline Championship serving as a crucial platform for athletes to showcase their skills and secure a spot at the Olympics, Zhu Xueying and Wang Zisai’s recent victories have propelled them one step closer to achieving their Olympic dreams.
