CES 2024 unveiled Rabbit R1 – the new artificial intelligence device
CES 2024 was a showcase of cutting-edge technology, and one of the highlights was the unveiling of Rabbit R1 by AI startup Rabbit. According to Rabbit CEO and founder Jesse Lyu, Rabbit R1 is an artificial intelligence assistant, officially referred to as a pocket companion.
Priced at US$199 (approximately HK$1,556), Rabbit R1 operates on Rabbit’s own operating system, Rabbit OS. The company stated that its OS is not based on large language models such as ChatGPT, and can be best described as an “application universal controller.”
Jesse Lyu emphasized that, at this stage, R1 aims to act as a mediator between users and their smartphones, eliminating the need for users to navigate through numerous applications. While it’s not intended to replace smartphones, he believes it has the potential to do so in the future. For instance, users can instruct Rabbit R1 to hail a ride home, and Rabbit R1 will automatically book an Uber for the user.
Rabbit R1 features a 2.88-inch touch screen, aiming to provide users with an intuitive operating experience. Additionally, it includes a Push-to-Talk button for users to communicate with Rabbit AI, with the assurance that it will not actively monitor conversations. The device is equipped with a 2.3GHz MediaTek processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage space, and a Sim card slot, with officials claiming that the power is sufficient to last a day.
