Whether Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber will ever have children together is currently in the stars. Because the former Hollywood dream couple has been separated since 2018. Nevertheless, photos of the US actress and the Canadian singer are now appearing online – with their alleged children.
These and other family portraits were created by Jeremy Pomero and with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). For his pictures of unborn celebrity children, the American graphic designer worked intensively with the AI platform Midjourney. Some other people have already explored the possibilities of AI in the artistic field. For example, the Turkish photographer Alper Yeşiltaş deals with what dead celebrities might look like on his Instagram channel.
Jeremy Pomeroy goes one step further and shows children of actors and musicians who don’t even exist. Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber’s children are just one example. The AI images also show the offspring of Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves or Winona Ryder and Johnny Depp.
Art and not a scandal
The photos from the fictitious family album of the celebrities are all characterized by a special setting. Some shots look like photos of royal children. Others seem to come from a bygone era. Therefore, all family pictures have real and surreal features. However, this is purely intentional.
Jeremy Pomeroy not only used AI-based tools to create the images, but also edited the recordings with programs such as Photoshop and Faceswap. However, only to depict the faces of the celebrities and their unborn children as realistically as possible. The American has deliberately alienated everything else in order to make it immediately clear: This is AI art.
In this way, the viewer still has enough room for their own imagination. Jeremy Pomeroy therefore also shows what would have happened if Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog from the Muppet Show had had children. Taylor Swift and Harry Styles appear as a country couple with the AI-generated children in matching costumes.
Jeremy Pomeroy wants to further explore the possibilities of AI in the field of art. He publishes his pictures as illustrative examples. There is one thing the graphic designer definitely does not want: to shock people with his artificially generated images or to scandalize prominent people.
