Aurora Innovation Completes Self-Driving Technology, Plans to Produce Thousands of Autonomous Trucks by 2027
Aurora Innovation, a new self-driving vehicle startup, has recently announced the completion of its Aurora Driver self-driving technology. The company is now expected to collaborate with German automotive supplier Continental AG to produce thousands of self-driving transport trucks by 2027.
Currently, Aurora Innovation has about 30 driverless trucks operating on Texas roads, assisting FedEx and Uber Freight in delivering goods. The company is planning to expand its fleet significantly in the coming years.
By the end of 2024, Aurora Innovation expects to have 19 driverless trucks performing cargo transportation tasks over a distance of 240 miles (approximately 286.24 kilometers) between Houston and Dallas. This expansion will mark a major milestone in the development of autonomous truck technology.
In order to achieve its goals, Aurora Innovation has been actively seeking external investments. Last year, the company established a joint venture with Continental Group and began a partnership with Walmart to further its efforts in building automated transportation fleets.
The completion of its self-driving technology and its plans for mass production of autonomous trucks signal a significant step forward for Aurora Innovation in the development of self-driving technology and its impact on the future of transportation.
