Cleannest: Lower Austrian founder wants to revolutionize diapers
Young company wants to revolutionize the diaper industry
Peachies is on a mission to create a super soft improvement on the basic diaper. It should be particularly absorbent and contain no environmentally harmful chemicals, dyes or fragrances. Although it is a disposable product, it is said to be completely biodegradable. The young company only uses plant-based materials for its diapers. The company wants to revolutionize an industry that has not really developed since the 1980s and has a very strong climate impact.
According to the startup, an estimated 167 billion disposable diapers are produced each year, requiring 248.5 million barrels of crude oil to produce them. Billions of them end up in landfills, where they can take hundreds of years to decompose. The Peachies diapers are said to be much more sustainable than conventional diapers. āThe European Unionās Climate Innovation Organization (Climate KIC) has confirmed that for every 1,000 babies carrying Peachies we will save the equivalent of 93 tonnes of CO2. āThatās the weight of 17 elephants,ā says the young company.
