After the current hype surrounding Fallout, many fans want another game in the series. Realistically speaking, that is still a long way off. Therefore, Microsoft now wants to take matters into its own hands.

Developer Bethesda is currently still busy completing Elder Scrolls 6, which was announced in 2018. And that too could take four to six years until the final publication. Apparently development work on the long overdue game only recently began. Now the usually very well-informed journalist Jez Corden from Windows Central spoke in a podcast about Microsoft’s plans for Fallout. According to him, Microsoft started it “Make plans to get the next fallout sooner rather than later”.
“Fallout: New Vegas,” which was released in 2010, comes from the games company Obsidian Entertainment, also a Microsoft development studio. “Fallout: New Vegas” is considered by many players to be the best part of the series to date. Therefore, it would make sense that this studio could possibly produce the next part. In addition, Obsidian boss Feargus Urquhart expressed the desire to develop further fallout in an interview from 2023. He is also convinced that it will somehow happen.
The next Fallout part is up in the air
At the moment, another game in the Fallout franchise is still very far away. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, neither from Microsoft nor from Bethesda. So it will probably be a few years before we get our hands on a finished Fallout game. Because even if the development studios come to an agreement in the near future, it will take a few years for a well-rounded triple-A game to be released.
The most recent standalone Fallout game is the fourth installment, released in 2015. The long-awaited next-gen update has just been released for this game. However, this failed to convince a large part of the community. The graphics on new consoles and powerful PCs don’t really look improved and seem outdated. A slightly newer game is the online game Fallout 76, which came out in 2018.
