After receiving overwhelming praise and sweeping over 400 Game of the Year Awards, the open-world soul game “Elden’s Ring” by FromSoftware is gearing up for its first expansion content DLC, “Shadow of the Golden Tree,” set to be released in June 2024. However, this DLC might mark the end of the Elden Ring universe as we know it.

FromSoftware CEO and “Elden Ring” producer Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed that “Shadow of the Golden Tree” will be the only DLC for the game, a departure from their previous strategy of launching multiple expansion chapters for games like “Dark Souls 2” and “Dark Souls 3.” Despite this, Miyazaki hinted in a recent interview that the team is already planning for new adventures, leaving the door open for future projects related to the Elden Ring universe.

Bandai Namco, the game’s publisher, also expressed their desire to expand beyond games and integrate Elden Ring into various aspects of daily life. CEO Kyoo Miyagawa stated that they are committed to meeting the expectations of fans worldwide and will continue working to expand the brand into new territories.

With the initial launch of “Elden’s Ring” in February 2022 breaking records and reaching 13.4 million units sold globally within a month, the anticipation for the upcoming DLC is at an all-time high. The highly-anticipated “Shadow of the Golden Tree” is set to be released on June 21, 2024, marking a milestone in the Elden Ring saga.
