HMD Global to Launch Own-Brand HMD Android Tablet, TA-1597, Certified by FCC
Finnish start-up HMD Global, known for licensing the Nokia mobile phone brand, has announced the upcoming launch of its own brand HMD smartphones along with its debut into the tablet market with the HMD Android tablet, model TA-1597. The tablet has recently received certification from the FCC Communications Commission in the United States, indicating its imminent availability for consumers.
According to reports from foreign media Nokiamob, the TA-1597 tablet is essentially a rebranded version of the Nokia T21 tablet released in 2022. While the hardware specifications and design are expected to remain the same, the brand name will be changed to HMD.
Additional information submitted by HMD to the FCC reveals that the HMD Android tablet will differ from the Nokia T21 in terms of the preloaded operating system version and the supply chain for various components like the body screens, camera modules, antennas, and chargers.
The HMD tablet will feature a Unisoc T612 processor, 4GB of memory, 128GB of storage, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, an 8-megapixel rear main camera, and an 8200mAh battery. The device will run on the Android 13 operating system, an upgrade from the Nokia T21’s Android 12.
While the Nokia T21 was launched in Taiwan last year for 7,990 yuan in a space gray color, the HMD TA-1597 is expected to be available in three color options: gray, black, and apricot. HMD has yet to provide an official launch date or further details about the tablet, but speculation suggests it may be available for purchase on their official website soon.
