NVIDIA Insiders Confirm Most Switch 2 Games Will Use DLSS Technology
In a recent report from well-known whistleblower Moore’s Law is Dead, it has been revealed that insiders at NVIDIA have indicated that the majority of games for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console will incorporate DLSS technology. DLSS, or Deep Learning Super Sampling, is a cutting-edge technology that uses AI to upscale lower resolution images to higher resolution, allowing for improved graphical performance.
The decision to incorporate DLSS into most Switch 2 games comes as a response to the system’s technical limitations. According to reliable sources, the processor performance of the Switch 2 cannot match that of the weakest console system currently available, the Xbox Series S. As a result, DLSS will be utilized to enhance the overall gaming experience on the console.
While the technical specifications of the Nintendo Switch 2 are expected to be behind current standards, NVIDIA reportedly offered Nintendo a variety of system SoC (System on Chip) options, including one based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, the foundation for NVIDIA’s RTX 4000 series graphics cards. However, Nintendo ultimately chose a cost-optimized version of the Orin chip, based on the Ampere architecture. This decision was made with the goal of maximizing performance while keeping costs low.
Despite the limited information available about the Nintendo Switch 2, reports from last year suggest that the console will support NVIDIA DLSS, including Ray Reconstruction support. This will position the Switch 2 as a leading gaming system with top-notch ray tracing performance in the current generation.
