Nintendo to Discontinue Online Services for 3DS and Wii U
In a recent announcement, Nintendo revealed that the online services for their popular gaming consoles, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, will officially come to an end on April 9. This news comes as a disappointment to many fans who have enjoyed the online cooperative battles and other network communication features.
Starting at 9 a.m. Japan time on April 9, online cooperative battles, online rankings, and other services that require the use of network communications will be stopped. However, players will still be able to continue playing offline.
In addition to this announcement, officials stated that the online services for the games “Real Escape Game x Nintendo 3DS Escape from Super Destruction Plan” and “STEELDIVER SUBWARS” will end earlier than April 9. On the other hand, the two games “Pokémon Bank” and “Pokémover” will continue to have their online services provided after April 9 until further notice.
Furthermore, reports from “Bahamut” indicate that Nintendo will continue to provide download services even after ending the 3DS and Wii U network services. This means that players will still be able to re-download previously purchased games, DLC, and more until further notice.
Despite the discontinuation of online services, Nintendo will continue to provide support for their gaming community. It is important for players to stay tuned for further updates and announcements regarding the future of these popular gaming consoles.
