Apple Releases RC Version of iOS 17.5 with New Features for Repair Process
Following the Let Loose event this morning, Apple has announced the release of RC versions of iOS 17.5, iPadOS 17.5, watchOS 10.5, and tvOS 17.5 to developers and beta testers. One of the key features of the iOS 17.5 update is the streamlined process for sending an iPhone for repair without the need to disable the āStolen Device Protectionā and āFind Myā functions.
With the new update, iPhone users can now send their devices for repair with just one step, using their Apple ID and password to confirm ownership. This new feature will allow Apple technicians to proceed with the repair process without compromising the security features of the device.
Additionally, iOS 17.5 beta will support Web Distribution, although no developers have yet implemented this feature in their applications. The update also includes an anti-tracking system for accessories like AirTags, as well as a new āRepair Stateā function in the Find My app.
In other news, the watchOS 10.5 update introduces the 2024 Pride watch face āPride Radiance,ā which complements the new Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop strap set to be available for order starting May 22. The visionOS 1.2 beta 5 and tvOS 17.5 RC updates primarily focus on bug fixes and security patches.
