Japanese Company Introduces Wearable Speaker for Immersive Sound Experience
Sound is not just something we hear, but also something we feel. With high sound pressure and power output, some may feel vibrations in their pants or even feel like the bass is hitting their heart. Understanding this concept, a Japanese company called Hikawa Audio Research Institute has introduced a unique wearable speaker called “fuiigo” on the Makuake crowdfunding platform.
Priced at 54,000 yen, fuiigo is designed to provide users with a one-of-a-kind experience of both hearing and feeling vibrations simultaneously. Resembling a backpack when worn, the speaker has a cylindrical part that rests against the chest and abdomen, with a built-in bass unit that generates vibrations and shaking, creating a “heart-beating” sensation. The left and right channel units for mids and highs are positioned near the clavicle, enveloping the user in a surround sound-like experience.
The manufacturer claims that fuiigo’s design brings the sound unit closer to the ears, reducing the impact of sound waves on the surroundings. This innovative design is said to enhance the experience of scenes like bass drums and fireworks, providing users with a new level of immersion. However, fuiigo requires a wired connection to a dedicated amplifier to operate, which supports RCA input and Bluetooth wireless transmission for use with traditional speakers and mobile devices.
With fuiigo, Hikawa Audio Research Institute aims to revolutionize the way we experience sound, allowing users to not only hear music but also feel it in a whole new way.
