Samsung’s Smart Glasses Patent Reveals Possible Design Details
Rumors of Samsung entering the smart glasses market have been circulating for some time now, and recent discoveries suggest that the tech giant may be closer to launching its own product. According to reports, Samsung registered the trademark “Galaxy Glasses” as early as 2023 and has since submitted a smart glasses patent to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The patent documents uncovered by Patently Apple shed light on the possible design of Samsung’s smart glasses. While the overall look of the glasses may not be drastically different from regular eyewear, the patent reveals some interesting technical details. For instance, the glasses feature a magnetic connection point on the left edge of the frame, allowing for easy charging when placed in the protective case. Additionally, the battery is said to be housed at the end of the glasses’ stem.
However, what’s noticeably absent from the patent filing are any mentions of cameras or sensors, which are commonly found in XR (extended reality) devices. This has led some to speculate that Samsung’s focus with this particular patent may be more on the physical design rather than the technological components.
It’s important to note that just because Samsung has applied for patents for smart glasses, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the design revealed in the documents will be the final product. Companies often file patents to protect their own interests and technology, so it’s still uncertain whether Samsung will indeed launch smart glasses in the near future.
For now, tech enthusiasts and Samsung fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for the rumored Galaxy Glasses. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
