SpaceX confirmed that it is already preparing its fourth test flight to space with Starship, the largest and most powerful rocket in the world. Elon Musk announced on Saturday that the upcoming flight will be more ambitious than previous ones, with the spacecraft aiming to exceed previous milestones.
The Starship rocket, measuring about 120 meters high, is made up of two parts: the Super Heavy booster with 33 engines, and the ship itself. Experts believe that Starship far surpasses the capabilities of the Saturn V rocket, which took Neil Armstrong to the Moon. Unlike its predecessors, the Falcon rockets, Starship is designed to be more reusable, allowing for more frequent and cost-effective launches.
SpaceX has faced setbacks with previous test flights, with the first two missions ending in explosions. However, the third flight in March was the most successful to date, reaching a close orbit in space before losing the ship during its return to Earth. Despite these challenges, SpaceX is determined to continue refining Starship in preparation for crewed missions to Mars and other deep space destinations.
In addition to NASA missions, SpaceX aims to use Starship for transporting large amounts of water off the planet and launching its Starlink Internet satellites. The company is also planning to build a launch facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to accommodate up to 44 Starship takeoffs per year.
