Successful manga gets its own theme park

Attention fans of Dragon Ball: the successful manga and anime series is getting its own theme park. For once itā€™s not even in Japan. We will still have to travel a few kilometers to visit here.

The Dragon Ball-style theme park is being built in Saudi Arabia. More precisely, in front of the capital Riyadh. Over a total area of ā€‹ā€‹around 500,000 square meters, there will be various attractions to marvel at that are based on the adventures of Son Goku & Co.

Based on the seven Dragon Balls, the theme park will also be divided into seven different areas. In total, more than 30 rides as well as several restaurants and hotels are planned. The figurehead is said to be an approximately 70 meter tall image of the dragon Shenlong. You can watch the first teaser here.

It is not known when the opening is planned. The theme park is being built as part of the ā€œQiddiyaā€ giga project. This is intended to massively boost tourism in Saudi Arabia by 2030. Just a few weeks ago, the concept of a new Formula 1 race track was unveiled, which is visually reminiscent of Mario Kart. This should also become part of the project.

Dragon Ball was created in 1984 by Akira Toriyama. The manga has sold more than 260 million copies to date, making it one of the most successful in the world. At the age of 68, the Japanese author recently passed away on March 1, 2024.
