Japanese Player Spends over 1800 Hours Collecting “Po” in “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”

A Japanese player, “Squall@大剣士,” has taken dedication to a whole new level by spending over 1800 hours collecting “Po” in the game “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.” The “Po” serves as currency in the game and can be acquired by fighting monsters underground. The game offers various incentives for players, but Squall took on the challenge out of sheer love and curiosity for the game.

Squall, who is a dedicated fan of the entire “Legend of Zelda” series, had already spent over 500 hours playing “Tears of the Kingdom” before embarking on this collecting adventure. He has been diligently working on completing various aspects of the game, such as achieving a 100% map completion rate and fully enhancing his weapons and armor.

He has been providing updates on his progress through his Twitter account, sharing his accomplishments and challenges along the way. After achieving full armor enhancement, he continued to recover all treasure chests in the game and even shot an additional 30,000 souls in the underground abandoned mining area.

According to an interview with Japanese media AUTOMATON, Squall found no guide website that introduced how to quickly collect “Po,” so he took it upon himself to develop the route. He gradually improved his collection route, starting from 2 hours to collect about 3,000 “Pos” to spending 9 hours a day collecting more than 15,000 “Pos.”

After months of dedicated effort, Squall finally reached the upper limit of “Po,” collecting a total of 999,999 “Pos” on January 7, 2024. This achievement signifies the completion of his self-imposed challenge and a testament to his unwavering love for the game.

While there were no grand celebrations or awards at the end of this challenge, Squall expressed his immense sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. He also revealed that the most difficult thing in the entire challenge was not the time spent, but staying in the underground world for the past six months, listening to the same BGM for hours on end.

Perhaps this is the most sincere dedication of players who truly love games to their favorite games. Yes, the “Po” will not exceed 1 million. Squall knows the result, but he still enjoys it because it is his love for “The Legend of Zelda.” His dedication serves as a testament to the enduring passion and commitment of players to their favorite games.
